Pearl Islands New Project in Pedro Gonzales Island

PRESENTATION. Andrés Duany, founding partner of Latin DPZ America, explains the details of the plans of development of Pedro González island.

Eleta Group bets on the tourism and for it has contracted the services of the international company of architects Duany Plater - Zyberk & Company (DPZ) so it advises them in the elaboration the master plan development a tourist community in the Pedro González island, located in the archipelago of the Pearls.

In order to create a forum that promotes a dialogue opened between specialists in the tourist and urban subject and the community in general, the group has organized a series of planning sessions and workshops that began last Wednesday night with a presentation of Andrés Duany, DPZ partner and recognized as "the pioneer of the new urbanism". Duany gave details of how a city based on the principles is planned that turn to the communities inhabitable places: accessible to the pedestrians, connectivity, mixed, diverse and compact use, architecture and urban design of quality, traditional structure of district, appropriate transport, sustainability and quality of life.
In these workshops, the residents, designers, govt officials and representatives of environmental organizations and other tourist developers share their vision with respect to the plans for the tourist development in the Pedro González island.

"The group as a owner of one of the island in Pearl archipelago, have wanted to get involve in a serious way to the tourist development, therefore, in order to accomplish that goal have engaged in the task of looking for a company to advise us on how to make this development in a sustainable form, respecting the natural patrimony that we have as a country", said the executive director of Eleta Group,Guillermo Saint Malo Eleta.
